Fulvic Acid Origin & Overview
In the beginning In the beginning the Earth was blessed with optimum organic growing conditions. The soil had a wealth of minerals, trace elements, and rich humus soil teaming with microbes. The Earth's minerals had not yet leached and eroded into the seas, and because of that, the soil was exceptionally fertile. The vegetation was very lush and abundant, as is evidenced by ancient remains that we know were formed into coal and oil deposits. Humic deposits But there have been found other most unusual remains that geologists call humic deposits They also came from that ancient lush vegetation. These humic deposits never did turn into oil or coal. They are quite rare and can be found in various areas of the world. Some of these deposits are exceedingly rich in a little known substance called fulvic acid. Fulvic acid Fulvic acid has been discovered to be one of the most important miracles of life itself. Fulvic acid is a part of the humic structure in rich composting soil. It is an acid created in extremely small amounts by the action of millions of beneficial microbes, working on decaying plant matter in a soil environment with adequate oxygen. It is of low molecular weight and is biologically very active. Because of its low molecular weight, it has the necessity and ability to readily bond minerals and elements into its molecular structure causing them to dissolve and become mobilized fulvic complexes. Fulvic acid usually carries 70 or more minerals and trace elements as part of its molecular complexes. These are then in ideal natural form to be absorbed by plant roots and interact with living cells. Plants readily absorb high amounts of fulvic acid, and maintain it in their structure. In fact it has been discovered that these fulvic acid complexes are absolutely essential for plants to be healthy, and the same is true of animals and man. Microbial action We know that ancient plant life had ample fulvic acid as is evidenced by the exceedingly rich and unusual deposits that are located in various areas of the world. This fulvic acid in these deposits came from massive amounts of vegetation and its further decomposition by microbes. Fulvic acid is then a naturally occurring organic substance that comes entirely from microbial action on decomposing plants, plants themselves, or ancient deposits of plant origin. Fulvic acid is lacking in food crops It seems obvious that most of the plants and food crops of today would also contain adequate amounts or at least some of the miracle fulvic acid and its related mineral complexes, but few do. As human beings it would be reasonable to assume that we should be consuming fulvic acid complexes in the plants we eat, and consequently have fulvic acid in our systems. It is obvious that this is the way nature intended it. But this is not the case, nor has it been for a long time. Our soils are sick from poor agricultural practices, pesticides, chemical fertilizers, erosion, and mineral depletion, as well as sterile conditions that prohibit microbial activity. Because of this our plants are sick, containing very little nutrition, especially minerals. For generations adequate fulvic acid that should have been contained in the plants we eat has been missing from our diets, yet it is essential for our cell metabolism. Scientists have found that nutritionally we need 90 different nutrients in our diets. Over 60 of these are minerals and trace elements. We are simply not getting them today from the plants we eat. Re-mineralization of soils would be of little benefit without microbes, the fulvic acid they produce, and return to better farming practices. Re-mineralization of our bodies without the fulvic acid that should be contained in the plants we eat, has proven just as useless. People are sick with degenerative and deficiency related diseases now more than ever. With fulvic acid supplementation and return to proper diet and farming practices these situations have the potential to be remedied. Fulvic acid in science and medicine Fulvic acid is still not well known or understood by most of the scientific or medical community. Fulvic acids have not been able to be synthesized by chemists, and are unable to be clearly defined because of their extremely complex nature. This perplexity warrants little opportunity for science or medicine to exploit fulvic acid, or profit from new patents. Historically, traditional medical claims of encouraging health benefits have been simply remarkable. Many of these health assertions have also shown that fulvic acid is disease preventative in nature and may dramatically increase longevity. The health benefits seen to this point demonstrate that fulvic acid potentially poses a substantial threat to the future of pharmaceutical companies, medical doctors, and health professionals. Until recent, fulvic acid has been entirely overlooked or misunderstood. Benefits of Fulvic acid Some scientists have recently been studying fulvic acid, and have come up some amazing facts. They tell us that fulvic acid is the finest electrolyte known to man. It is assists with human enzyme production, hormone structures, and is necessary for the utilization of vitamins. It has been found to be essential to living cells in carrying on metabolic processes. It maintains the ideal environment for dissolved mineral complexes, elements, and cells to bio-react electrically with one another causing electron transfer, catalytic reactions, and transmutations into new minerals. It is also the most powerful anti-oxidant and free radical scavenger known. It has the unique ability to react with both negatively and positively charged unpaired electrons and render free radicals harmless. 7 Benefits and Uses of Fulvic Minerals
Fulvic acid is one of two classes of humic acidic, organic compounds found in the earth’s soils, rock sediments and bodies of water. Over the past several decades, we’ve learned a lot more about how humic substances found in dirt, including fulvic acid, can actually improve human gut health and therefore immune functions. While people used to obtain higher amounts of humic acids naturally from the soil, today they often turn to food-grade supplements to boost their nutrient intake and improve gut health. Fulvic acid is found in nature as a product of microbial metabolism processes, which means it’s produced when organic plant matter decomposes and millions of beneficial healthy bacteria are released. Folate occurs naturally in folate foods (especially vegetables, whole grains and beans), but folic acid is the synthetic form of this vitamin that’s added to some foods and supplements. Most people assume that folate and folic acid are the same thing with similar benefits, but in fact folic acid is not naturally occurring like folate is and not usually capable of producing the same effects. Still, it’s estimated that about 35 percent of adults and 28 percent of all children in the U.S. use supplements containing folic acid, yet it’s been shown to act differently in the body than folate when it comes to helping with cellular functions, nutrient synthesis, liver and kidney health. While folate is easily and naturally absorbed and utilized in the small intestines, folic acid requires the presence of a specific enzyme named dihydrofolate reductase, which research suggests is relatively rare in the body. Regarding dosage and when to take fulvic acid, this depends on if you take medications and when you eat. It’s a good idea to take fulvic acid around the time of eating since it counteracts and detoxifies contaminants — such as pesticides, chemicals, etc., found in foods that are not organic. You can take it a half hour before eating or two hours after eating to improve detox abilities. If using medications, take fulvic two hours after or before. Why We Need Exposure to Soil-Based Organisms The nonstop use of antibiotics, food pesticides, hand sanitizers and detergents, along with antibacterial overkill, in our germ-fearing culture might seem like a good thing — but in reality, just like other animals we are meant to come into contact with earth’s many organisms. Today, the fact that we live in an oversanitized world poses real health problems, including lowering our ability to absorb nutrients from our diets, impairing immunity, and raising susceptibility to infections and other illnesses. On top of acquiring less natural bacterial organisms from the outdoors, we’re also running low in many key nutrients due to modern farming practices that deplete soils and lower plants’ antioxidants, vitamins and mineral content. Most adults and children today come into contact with less dirt, soil, organic crops or plants, and ocean water than past generations did, meaning our immune systems don’t have the chance to become familiar with many different organisms and therefore don’t learn to protect us as well as they could. Are There Any Fulvic Acid Side Effects? Research suggests that fulvic acid is safe for most people to take, although there hasn’t been much research done in special populations, such as those with impaired immune systems or pregnant women. It seems to be mostly safe and pose few side effects because an overdose isn’t possible, considering it’s completely natural, found in all soil and easily flushed from the system once consumed. The side effects that are known seem to come about when people take high amounts of fulvic acid in pure form. It’s best to start slowly and increase your dosage in increments to make sure you experience no side effects. Diluting fulvic acid is safer than taking it alone in high amounts. If you have a disorder that results in abnormal immune functions, such as an autoimmune disease like multiple sclerosis or rheumatoid arthritis, you shouldn’t take fulvic acid without being monitored since it can activate the immune system and complicate your condition. Because not enough is known about how it affects hormones in pregnant women, it’s also best to stay away from using fulvic acid supplements if you’re pregnant or breast-feeding (although consuming it in small amounts from dirt and produce is perfectly fine). The Magic of mineralsThe history of fulvic acid is quite interesting. Originally discovered in New Mexico, fulvic acid was comprised of ancient organic, compacted vegetation rich in trace minerals. Hundreds of millions of years ago, New Mexico was more like a tropical rain forest than the desert it is today. Like a rain forest, this area was vibrant with tree and plant matter as well as swampland. As the trees and plants died, they often fell into the water, amassing at the bottom of the swamp floor.
Because the swamps were most often stagnant, they were not well oxygenated, which meant that decay was less likely to take place. As a result, the trees and plants didn’t decompose as they would under normal conditions. Instead, the leaves and softer shoots broke down into a jelly-like substance, while the harder, woody parts, like branches and trunks, turned into peat. This combination created the initial components of fulvic acid. Over the course of many, many centuries, the waters of these swamps receded, and this mineral-rich jelly and peat became visible. By the early 1600s, the Native Americans living in the New Mexico area as well as the Spaniards that also resided in the Southwest discovered this biomass mineral material, wrongly assuming that it was coal. However, they quickly learned their mistake when the “coal” wouldn’t burn. One Spaniard in particular, a Catholic priest by the name of Fray Benavides, was not content simply to overlook the possible benefits of this thick, lush material. He studied it, pulverized it, and even sprinkled some of it on his food. Surprised by the lack of taste, he almost determined that it was nothing more than dirt. Almost. During a walk, Father Benavides bumped up against a cactus, impaling several of the spikes into his foot. While he was able to remove most of the thorns, several were too deep and began to fester. He decided to sprinkle some of the pulverized material onto his injured foot. He continued to use it for several days, and much to his amazement, the infection cleared up, and his foot healed completely. Modern research has begun to examine both fulvic acid’s nutrient content and its physiological benefits in cells and tissues. While clinical research has yet to be done, some practitioners are beginning to recommend fulvic acid–based nutritional products and are amassing anecdotal information about its benefits. For instance, fulvic acid shows promise in promoting healing in patients with a variety of serious health conditions for which mineral deficiency plays a much underreported role. People using fulvic acid report healing benefits for chronic fatigue, acute muscle aches and pains, fibromyalgia, arthritis, wound healing, and Bell’s palsy. There also have been some amazing testimonials from people who have used fulvic acid to help recover from other, more serious conditions such as cancer, autism, and chronic pain. Fulvic acid also appears to promote healthier, more efficient detoxification within the body—a crucial function that’s needed if we want to enjoy optimal health. In this article, I’d like to talk more about fulvic acid and tell you how it can promote, protect, and restore vigorous health for us all. The Magic of Fulvic Acid Fulvic acid, a natural component of rich, organic humus, can be found in any nutrient-rich, organic soil. It is created by micro-organisms that live in decaying organic matter, such as centuries-old deposits of composted vegetation and manure. Fulvic acid is not actually an acid—nor is it a mineral. It is, rather, a complex compound that can attract and hold both negatively and positively charged ions. As such, it can bond and hold ionized minerals—such as calcium, magnesium, and zinc—incorporating them into its own molecular structure. This creates a new fulvic acid–multimineral compound that plants, animals, and humans can easily digest, absorb, and utilize to support vibrant health. This is the real magic of fulvic acid—its ability to dissolve elemental minerals present in the soil and convert them into a form that is highly absorbable by the roots of plants. Once absorbed, those minerals are in the perfect form for feeding, strengthening, and growing the botanical, whether it’s an herb, cherry tree, or tomato plant.
